| The science popularisation serves as a vital measure for enhancing public scientific literacy and propelling the nation's innovation-driven development. Traditional science communication models have long been characterised by the one-way dissemination of scientific conclusions, failing to adequately reflect the multi-layered nature of science popularisation in terms of knowledge, spirit, thought, and methodology. The history of science documents the evolutionary trajectory of scientific knowledge, the formation process of scientific methods, and the refinement of the scientific spirit, constituting invaluable resources for overcoming the limitations of conventional science communication. This paper, grounded in knowledge emergence theory, focuses on the deep integration of the history of science with inquiry-based science outreach activities. It proposes three core design principles: multi-audience centricity, deferral of scientific conclusions, and tolerance for trial-and-error exploration. A five-stage inquiry-based science outreach framework, centred on the history of science, is constructed. Furthermore, using laser weapons as a practical case study, the research designs science outreach activities for primary and secondary school pupils. This research aims to provide frontline science communicators with replicable and scalable practical models for inquiry-based science outreach activities, thereby advancing the transformation of science communication towards a four-pronged scientific literacy cultivation system. |
