      Taking the novel coronavirus pneumonia（COVID-19）as an example，this paper analyzes the characteristics，status，functions and problems of emergency science popularization in dealing with unexpected public events；and brings forth strategies to promote a comprehensive mechanism of emergency science popularization as well as its active role in coping with public issues of emergency both at present and in the near future.
